Simala Shrine: A Castle of Miracles
What used to be a small, humble church housing monks from Pampanga is now a picturesque structure for the pious, its peaks high up as if reaching towards the heavens. Simala Shrine, otherwise known as the Monastery of the Holy Eucharist, or Simala Church, can easily be mistaken as a European castle at first glance. Once you recognize the religious figures adorning its walls and the cross on the highest main point, it will be clear to you that this castle-like structure is actually a church. Located at Lindogon, Sibonga, south of Cebu, this tourist attraction brings in both the religious and the curious from far and wide, gracing them with different stories of the land’s rich history and the testimony of the catholic faith.
