The Top 15 Must Visit Tourist Attractions In Cebu

Cebu City is the center of the region of the Visayas and it is also the center of trade and commerce in the country Philippines. Cebu is one of the most affordable, livable and most modern city in the country of the Philippines. It is polluted and as crowded as Manila. The total of being in Cebu City is more livable than most of the urbanized places in the country. Cebu City is visited for its gorgeous islands, fine and white and fine sand beaches, scuba sites suited for diving, luxury resorts and historical area and spots. The city is also filled with monuments, churches, mountain trails, historical legacies, exotic coral reefs, tall buildings and high end hotels and malls. This city makes the Philippines a more fun country to stay in and have a  vacation in.

1. ) Fort of San Pedro

Fort of San Pedro is rich in memories and historical legacy and it is located near the Pier of Cebu. Fort of San Pedro is the smallest triangular bastion fort in the whole country and it is the oldest, it was built in year 1738 by Cebuano laborers and Spaniards. It served as a base and military defense and it was also the focal point of the Spanish gatherings, settlement and meetings in the past. Fort in San Pedro has served as a stronghold for the local revolutionaries. As of this day, the part of the fort is now a museum. There is a large statue of Antonio Pigafetta and Legazpi seen outside the fort walls and inside the fort there are legacies of the Spanish government. The Fort San Pedro has well preserved artifacts like numerous paintings, sculpture and Spanish documents. It is now served as a famous venue for school trips, prenuptial pictures, wedding receptions, family gatherings, reunions and more. 

It is also now labeled as a historical park. This fort is under the care and supervision of administration of the City of Cebu and in order to earn extra income for its maintenace, visitors need to pay an entrance fee. The regular fee is 30 pesos, Senior Citizens are charged 24 pesos while children and students are charged 20 pesos.

Magellan’s Cross is another historical landmark in Cebu and it is significant in the religion that is Christianity, it was brough by the arrival of Magellan in Cebu in 1521. Magellan brought a wooden cross and planted it in the shores of the city, marking the start and the propagation of Christianity in Cebu. The Magellan’s Cross is located in the heart of Cebu, which is the downtown area. The entrance fee is free for tourists and locals alike.

Taoist Temple is located in the northern hills of Cebu and it is in the high end residential area of Beverly Hills in Lahug. It is about 6 kilometers north of downtown Cebu. This falls is a three-tiered cascade of crystal clear water. Kawasan falls can be reached by riding a bus at Cebu Bus Terminal in the south from Cebu City. It is a three to four hour drive before you can reach Barangay Matutinao. You need to walk for 20 minutes before you can reach the 1st fall. You can also view several plants, birds and it is also surrounded by green and lush rainforest.

The highest peak in the province of Cebu is Osmena Peak. The Osmena Peak is 1,000 meters above sea level and it is in the southern part of Cebu in Dalaguete. It is labeled as the Summer Capital of Cebu and it is also known as the Little Baguio if the South because of its refreshing, cool and its mind blowing scenery. Dalgauete is 85 kilometers and it is an hour and a half ride by bus from Cebu City. You can ride the bus in the Cebu Bus Terminal in the south and get off at the junction in Dalaguete. Once your each Dalaguete then you can take a tricycle to Mantalungon and then you can start your hike to Osmena Peak.

It is in Poblacion Liloan and it is 40 minutes away from Cebu City. They also have a bird aviary and the entrance fee of the place is 100 pesos. You can ride a jeepney going to Lilioan from Mandaue City Cebu.

Tops is the most visited and the most well-known tourist destination in Cebu. This area is high above in Busay Hills and it will take a 15 to 20 minute drive from JY square in the Lahug area. You can rent a car or you can rent a taxi cab or you can bring your own vehicle because there is a parking space for cars. You can see the whole city of Cebu and the island of Mactan. The entrance fee is 100 pesos.

The Metropolitan Cathedral of Cebu is near Sto. Nino Church and Fort of San Pedro, it is a catholic church that should be visited while you are in Cebu. This church is the ecclesiastical place of the Archdiocese of the city of Cebu. It was constructed in 1689 and in 1909 it was completed and in 1950 it wa rebuilt.

He was responsbile for killing Ferdinand Magellan who was a Spanish Conquistador and he defeated the Spaniards during the war, battle and conflict of Mactan in 1521. It is in Punta place Engano in Lapu-Lapu City that is in the island of Mactan.
